Wondering Wanderings, Wandering Cities: CRANES

Today we are very pleased to bring you the first of a monthly series by Tânia A. Cardoso, featuring her work on investigating embodied urban spaces. SOLRAD contributor Nicholas Burman interviewed Tânia for SOLRAD in late January this year, and we are now pleased to collaborate with her in a more formal way. Enjoy her first comic with SOLRAD Presents, titled “CRANES.”

Wondering wanderings, wandering cities is a non-fictional, reportage type illustrated comic created by Tânia A. Cardoso as part of her PhD research’s artistic practice. She explores the complexities of different cities’ urban space through the practice of walking and in different illustrated experiences, mainly based on the comic format. By combining theory and praxis her research intends to demonstrate how the phenomenon of “illustrated cities” can be found at the intersection between urban experience, place and illustration. She posts a new online illustrated experience every month. You can find more of her work at her website.
