Today we’re pleased to bring you Dark Pants, the latest comic from Matt MacFarland. Dark Pants is an ongoing series by Matt MacFarland that he’s described as The Mask meets Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants with just a touch of Charles Burns.
Each issue in the series is a self-contained story revolving around a unique protagonist in a distinct neighborhood of Los Angeles. Each story starts with a character who is in some kind of life crisis, whether it be a recent break-up, a difficult marriage, or general dissatisfaction with their life or career. Upon finding the mysterious Dark Pants, black jeans with gold snakes embroidered on the back pockets, their lives are changed forever. Fantasies are indulged, bad decisions are made and the character’s lives are upended. At the end of each story, the character is forced to deal with the fallout and hopefully come to some kind of resigned acceptance of this new state of their life. Issues 1-4 are available on Matt MacFarland’s website. The fifth issue introduces a unique element, the use of Paper Clay on the page to create a uniquely disorienting effect.
We hope you enjoy it, and check back every Tuesday for a new Dark Pants post from SOLRAD Presents.
