The Accidental Undergrad is a series of loosely interrelated short stories from the perspective of a university professor reflecting on his 20 years of teaching. Each piece in the series examines an artwork, pop culture artifact, or some other social or aesthetic phenomena, often incorporating actual ideas from his classes. Simultaneously, however, he reveals a more personal journey: of artistic ambition, failure, and rebirth by drawing upon lessons garnered through a lifetime of study.
Christian Giroux is a professor at the University of Guelph in Ontario, where he teaches fundamentals of drawing, 3D design, and introductory Modernist theory and history. More examples of his work can be found at diewithmecomic.com and @diewit.hme.
