SYSTEM 01: Hot Net Hotel is 122 pages of comics featuring dazzling, innovative comics from some of the most talented cartoonists and illustrators working in China’s underground publishing world. Paradise Systems has been working closely with cartoonists in mainland China since 2017.
This book is a celebration of that community, featuring 15 Chinese cartoonists and illustrators whose brilliant, edgy, fantastical work demands our attention. Every artist in this anthology is a legend in their own right; together, they have hundreds of pages of published work that has never been translated into English. While some of them, including Xiang Yata and Ganmu, have been active for decades, others, like Woshibai, are rising talents. Their work captures a wide spectrum of illustration and storytelling styles, reflecting the stupendous diversity of the self-publishing and art comics scene in China today.
