We at SOLRAD continue to hope that you and yours are safe and well and that SOLRAD continues to be a place of entertainment and, perhaps, comfort during this increasingly anxious time.
Due to the pandemic, comic shows are (sensibly) canceling left and right, putting further strain on the already delicate comics ecosystem.
In order to deal with some of the fall out, a number of comics shows are doing their best to exist in the virtual world.
The latest edition to this roster is one of my personal favorite small shows, SAN FRANCISCO ZINE FEST. |
| |
The mission of SFZF is to promote and support artists, which they can do in other ways.
Even though everyone can’t all meet in person, the folks at SFZF know there is still a lot going on in the zine community—and they want you to have the opportunity to share and promote your work!
What is Cyber Fest anyway?
Accepted exhibitors will have the chance to socialize with other zinesters over video and have their work promoted by SFZF for multiple weeks in September. All exhibitors will be listed on the SFZF website with links, and their work and bio will be featured in social media posts. |
| |
Additionally, everyone attending Cyber Fest will have access to many live virtual events — like zine readings, interviews with the 2020 guests of honor, participate in zine-making hangouts, attend exclusive workshops, and more!
If there’s anything else you’d like to see during Cyber Fest, please email them at sfzinefest@gmail.com and let them know! |

And, as always, if you are really feeling generous (and have the means), we know that SOLRAD, and Fieldmouse Press, can't continue to publish the excellent work you've come to expect without contributions from readers like you. If you enjoy the work at SOLRAD and want to see it continue, please make a tax-deductible donation today.
I'd love to hear how you think we're doing with SOLRAD, the site, this newsletter, Fieldmouse Press, or why re-opening schools fully puts my life at risk. Find me on Twitter at @DanielElkin or send me an email at editor@solrad.co.
Until next time,
Daniel Elkin Editor, SOLRAD |
