Davide Calò is an Italian critic and scholar. He studied aesthetics and the philosophy of art at the University of Bologna, and writes on twentieth-century literature and philosophy, on comics and visual culture, and on the critical theory of the image, with a recurring interest in Susan Sontag and in the places where ethics and aesthetics meet. His work has appeared in L’Indiscreto, Scenari and Digressioni Filosofiche. This is his first piece for an English-language publication. He lives in Limone sul Garda, Italy, and is currently applying to doctoral programmes.
