Hi friends – Alex Hoffman here, Publisher of Fieldmouse Press, sticking my nose into your regular SOLRAD reading to share some of our upcoming book publishing plans.
Fieldmouse Press is launching a brand new Crowfundr campaign to publish two collections of comics poetry; the first, a memoir told in short stories by Jesse Lee Kercheval entitled French Girl. The stories in French Girl explore Jesse Lee’s relationship with her mother and her mother’s history, Jesse Lee’s childhood, her own motherhood, and the passage of time. As a collection, French Girl is a reflection on the material and immaterial ways that our families affect us.
Our second book is a brand new work by John Hankiewicz, a 100-page hardback book entitled Hot House. An unnamed man and woman live in a house together but rarely interact. Each of them attends to mundane tasks such as laundry and sweeping. Then time, space, and reality all warp around them in unexpected ways as they confront past selves, suffocating dust storms, and an environment that’s as claustrophobic as it is familiar.
We’ll be running some excerpts throughout the coming weeks, but in short, we’re hoping to raise $7500 to publish both books, and we hope you’ll help us make them happen! We’ve got great rewards, including campaign exclusive bookmarks, book plates, and some very special perks for folks who really believe in the project.
Thanks for continuing to read SOLRAD and for supporting the work of Fieldmouse Press!
