Comics Blogger Books is proud to present a haunting new short story from one of the South’s most exciting emerging voices in small press comics.
Bethany has a gift for connecting with the other side. She shares her gift with others on her ghost hunting YouTube channel. Doubts are starting to creep in, but during a collaborative shoot at an abandoned house the veracity of her skills may reveal themselves in surprising ways. Just how real are Bethany’s otherworldly powers?
Drawn in soft expressive pencil with flourishes of swirling intensity, Medium is a breakthrough work from Richmond, Virginia cartoonist Rae Whitlock and represents a new authentic voice in literary comics.

Rae Whitlock is a multidisciplinary artist and arts educator based in Richmond, VA. Through comics, installation, and social practice, her work deals frankly with identity, anxiety, and death under late-capitalism with tenderness, restrained hope, and humor. Her work has been featured at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Tacoma Art Museum, The Visual Arts Center of Richmond, Bruiser Magazine, and The Oregon Hill Review.
